A little back ground, I am the General Manager of a motel and have 15 employees.
The Desk Clerks make minnum wage which in Illinois is $8.00 an hour.
So here's something else that burns my ass.
I had a desk clerk, single baby factory, 21 years old with two kids. Last year she paid less than $400.00 in for her Federal taxes. Wanna know what her tax refund was? $3,600.00 !!!!!!!!!!
So, she stoped working in August of 2009, she went to one of those tax places with her year to date and they loaned her $5,000.00 on her expected $6,500.00 federal tax return!!!!!!! for 2009.
I, on the other hand, paid $$6,500 in Federal Tax last year but that wasn't enough and had to pay an additional $1,300.00 plus interest and penalties because I didn't pay enough!
Another desk clerk, the one in my pervious post, sells 3 of her dependent decuctions every year for cash money! I don't even wanna know how much she gets back every year, it's frigging depressing. Hell I'm 52 years old, have been around the block a few times and I didn't even know that you could sell your dependents to random run of the mill people for cash. I would file a complaint but I already know that non of our "elected" kings & queens wouldn't care.
We are at a genuine cross-road. As of the last presidential election, approximately 47% or 48% of Americans pay no federal income tax. Whether there should even be an income tax is a different discussion.
ReplyDeletePoint is, with the legislation passed at the end of the GWB years, coupled with shiny new legislation passed in the past 12 months, we will soon hit the magical 50.1%. At that point, it's "game over". We will be a socialist nation with more people drawing from the system than are paying into it.
Of course, we would never call ourselves socialist. We will call ourselves free. But if it walks and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Even if you call it a chicken.
I remember reading, back in the days of the USSR, that the people there thought they were "free". And no slave is so thoroughly enslaved than the one who believes he is free.
