Been Slacking On This For Too Long
I have not been blogging as much as I once did. For this I have no real reason, other than just being tired of almost everything political. Suffice it to say, none of my opinions have changed. We are still in deep shit and I am the most disappointed in the media. The early Whigs had it exactly right with their opinion that a free and open media was the most able defender of liberty.
So, on the non-political side, I have recently earned my center patch with the US Military Vets Motorcycle Club! I consider this among the most worthy things I have accomplished in quite a while. US Military Vets M/C
For any Brother who likes to vent in this type of forum, which is mostly political in nature, let me know & I will grant you permission to Author posts. There are only two “rules” here:
1) That you would proudly wear the title of “Angry Mob”, as it pertained to the media’s representation of the TEA party participants.
2) That you cite sources when appropriate.
Anyway, here is my meager little blog. I hope you like it.

Libertarian Monday Morning Message - 09/06/2010
Dear Friend of Liberty,
It's hard to celebrate Labor Day when unemployment is 9.6 percent.
Government interference is the single biggest cause of unemployment. Minimum wage laws, OSHA, ADA, etc., etc., make it difficult both to hire and to fire workers. (And when it's difficult to fire workers, it's much less likely that they will be hired in the first place.) To reduce unemployment, we need to start repealing laws!
Section 2.7 of the Libertarian Party platform states: "We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment. We oppose government-fostered forced retirement. We support the right of free persons to associate or not associate in labor unions, and an employer should have the right to recognize or refuse to recognize a union. We oppose government interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain."
I read today that President Obama wants another $50 billion in Keynesian stimulus spending. Stimulus supporters think that government spending creates jobs. What they don't seem to understand is that the money is taken out of the private sector, which decreases private sector spending and investment, and that destroys jobs. I believe that stimulus spending destroys more jobs than it creates. We'd be much better off with the laissez-faire policies advocated by Austrian economic theory.
It makes me mad to think of all the ways the Republican and Democratic congresses, and presidents Bush and Obama, have hurt the private sector with all their stimulus and bailout programs. (Remember George W. Bush's 2008 "Economic Stimulus Act" with all the $600 "rebate" checks?)
If you'd like to help fight them, please participate in Quiz Across America.

By all appearances, our President IS working to "Fundamentally Transform" America
Let's work backwards, and cover just a couple of the highlights. To cover them all would take more time and energy than I possess.
Let's begin with the Mosque in Manhatten, originally to be called the "Cordoba House". There are so many arguments against this idea, it is almost unimaginable that it is even being discussed. The prevalent point is that this is hallowed ground. I have heard it argued that this Mosque should be allowed to be built, but only after a Synagogue is built in Mecca. The very idea of a Mosque being built there is offensive in many ways, especially when we discover why the name is being changed from Cordoba House. ''Cordoba House' is a deliberately insulting term. It refers to Cordoba, Spain - the capital of Muslim conquerors who symbolized their victory over the Christian Spaniards by transforming a church there into the world's third-largest mosque complex.
Of course, our President is all for it. Speaking at a White House dinner to honor the holy month of Ramadan, the president said, "Muslims have the right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country," an apparent show of support for the mosque. Of course, he later backslid as popular fury grew over his position (don't you wish he would have shown as much wisdom to relent from the fury over the Obamacare he rammed down our throats). One must wonder why he would even want to chime in on this issue. Could it be his own Muslim roots?
It is apparent to me that Obama has no love for this country. All you have to do is look at the legislation he introduced as Prez, or supported during his brief stint as a Senator (when he even bothered to cast his vote). He often simply voted "present" in an apparent attempt to stay clear of any controversy. But y'all elected him anyway.
You can look at how he bowed to foreign dictators and kings. It really is embarrassing! Even more telling, is his wife's comments as he was nominated. Who could possibly forget her words?
Oh, and lest I forget, why is it that he found it so necessary to immediately seal his public records, like school records and a simple birth certificate? Since I have to show my birth certificate to get a simple driver's license, why is it he can drive the country without one?
I could go on and on and on. Let's suffice it to say that at the beginning of his term, I thought he was merely a bumbling idiot who was voted into office by other idiots. Sadly (and I mean really sadly), I have changed my opinion. I believe now that he is reading his instruction manual to the letter, and implementing it before our eyes before we even bother to realize what he is doing. If that is the case, we will get what we deserve.
Wake up America. We have a traitor in our house. Impeachment is certainly not out of the question.

Libertarian Monday Morning Message 08/02/10
Dear Friend of Liberty,
Last week it was reported that the Obama Administration wants to give the FBI power to force internet companies to reveal information about their users' internet activities: things like who they send email to, times and dates of emails, and maybe also information about their web browser activity.
Even worse, they want the FBI to be able to demand this information without a warrant!
President Obama is racking up an atrocious record on civil liberties and the Fourth Amendment. When he campaigned, he talked a lot about civil liberties. But when he got elected, he made an about-face and started expanding the abusive policies of the Bush Administration.
For example, his Justice Department claimed that "state secrets" doctrine started by Bush gave the government even more secrecy powers than Bush had claimed!
And earlier this year, the president signed a bill re-authorizing even the most abusive parts of the PATRIOT Act.
It seems that Obama has lots of respect for government power, and little or no respect for the rights of the people. Just like his predecessor.
Democrats and Republicans are cooperating to grow the power of government and trample on our rights. Please support the Libertarian Party and Libertarian candidates this year. We are the only real opposition.
Sincerely,
Wes Benedict

History 101
Predictably, my History 101 class is not going well. I'm getting good grades at the expense of a likely ulcer.
Each and every chapter is a new lesson on ...European settlers' evil; slavery, expansionism, etc. Not necessarily inaccurate, but certainly incomplete information. The heroics and wonders of the founders are glossed over at every opportunity.
Sadly, both the media and Academia can no longer be counted on, much less expected to, deliver the facts without bias and spin.

Double-Speak
You have heard about the govt mandating the banks to provide home loans to folks who can't afford them. When, predictably, the loans go into default, the govt screams "mismanagement" and takes over a large portion of the industry.
You've read other examples on my page as well. Let's add another. Govt mandates oil companies to drill far away from shore, where it is easier to manage a burst pipe or a leak. So the oil companies go miles off shore, have a leak, and the govt screams "irresponsibility!" What do you think the plan is now?
TEA Movement - Hijacked!
The problem began when the politicians got involved and corrupted an honorable movement by the people. You see, I don’t think the Democrats shared any significant ideology with the Labor Movement. I think they recognized a large block of voters and latched on. The Unions have grown more corrupt as more government and party dollars came into play.
Anyway, I see a similar phenomenon happening right now with the Republicans latching onto the TEA Party movement and claiming it as their own. I don’t think they share any significant ideology, rather they too have recognized a large block of voters and are trying to claim them as their own. I fear this will also lead to the sort of corruption that is born out of large amounts of government or party money. You see, I don’t believe the Republicans favor “lower” spending, rather I think they favor “different” spending.

Civic Disobedience
===
I am 47 years old and have grown quite cynical over the years. I see such hypocrisy on both end of the political spectrum, that this question becomes difficult to answer without relying on a lot of “ifs” and “ors”. I find myself unable to answer the question of a citizen’s duty without first examining the hypocrisy and contradictions of the recent past. For the sake of this discussion, I will be forced to generalize somewhat, referring to the “left” and the “right” as if both camps walked in lock step. I know this is not accurate, but it should help the conversation move smoothly, and I am disclaiming it now; I understand there are a wide varieties of opinions and beliefs among both the “left” and the “right”.
My main topic will be the current war in the middle east. I remember clearly how the Bush supporters were so aghast that anyone would dare disagree publicly with a US President during a time of war. President Bush even went so far as to outlaw many forms of war protest through Executive Order (Livingston, 2007). President Bush proclaimed “I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that, due to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by acts of violence threatening the peace and stability of Iraq and undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, it is in the interests of the United States to take additional steps with respect to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, and expanded in Executive Order 13315 of August 28, 2003, and relied upon for additional steps taken in Executive Order 13350 of July 29, 2004, and Executive Order 13364 of November 29, 2004." Of course, the “left” howled (Livingston, 2007)! This editorial I cite includes an Editor’s Note, which reads “Ed. Note: The United States government actively seeks to find, and silence, any and all opinions about the United States except those coming from authorized government and/or affiliated sources, of which we are not one.” I clearly remember in 2003, when the Left was going after Bush with everything it had – remember Bush lied and people died? – it fell to Hillary Clinton to defend political speech. She said. “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic.” She went on to say that dissent is perfectly proper no matter what administration is in power. Well, that was THAT Clinton and that was then (Woolley, 2010). Now, with a African American from the “left” holding the office of President, while largely running his war policy in largely parallel with Bush’s, Dissent Is No Longer Patriotic…It Is Racist (Harvey, 2008).
To address the question of the duty of the citizen, as it relates to non-compliance with government wishes, I believe we would be better off as a whole to listen to our own individual sense of right and wrong. For too long, people have simply fallen into lock step with their political party of choice. I don’t believe it to be patriotic to blindly adhere to government wishes or laws. I don’t believe it to be patriotic to automatically support or oppose the government based on which party is currently in power. Because of the incredible power of our federal government, I believe dissent or outright disobedience must be a matter of personal conviction.

The Narcissistic Personality Disorder
In the end-notes, the author cites an extensive study of the narcissistic personality disorder, conducted by psychoanalyst Otto Kernberg, who published many of his findings in a 1975 volume entitled "Borderline Conditions and Pathological Narcissism". I would like to quote a little from that work.
===
"On the surface, (pathological narcissistic individuals) may not present seriously disturbed behavior; some of them function socially very well. Many possess the capacity for active, consistent work in some area which permits them partially to fulfill their ambition of greatness and obtaining admiration and approval from other people."
Kernberg observed "a curious apparent contradiction between a very inflated concept of themselves and an inordinate need for tribute from others. When narcissistic personalities are in a position of objective importance they love to surround themselves with admirers in whim they are interested as long as the admiration is new. They obtain very little enjoyment in life other than from the tributes they receive from others or from their own grandiose fantasies, and feel restless and bored when external glitter wears off and no new sources feed their self-regard."
Kernberg considers the main characteristics of narcissists to be "grandiosity, extreme self-centeredness, and a remarkable absense of interest and empathy for others in spite of the fact that they are so very eager to obtain admiration and approval. It is as if they have a right to control and possess others and to expolit them without feeling guilt feelings, and, behind a surface which very often is charming and engaging, one senses coldness and ruthlessness. These patients not only lack emotional depth, but fail to understand complex emotion in other people."
"...Narcissistic patients divide the world into famous, rich and great people on one hand, and the despicable, worthless 'mediocrity,' on the other. Such patients are afraid of not belonging to the company of the great, rich and powerful, and of belonging instead to the 'mediocre,' by which they mean worthless and despicable, rather than 'average' in the ordinary sense of the word.

It goes on for quite a bit, but you get the idea. How many politicians can you think of right off the top of your head who this seems to describe to a tee? Any one in particular?

Conflicted
Last year (2009), I was laid off work on February 6. I submitted over 100 applications and resumes, receiving only 3 replies for my efforts, none of which ended up with an actual interview. On this point, let's be clear: I am 47 years old, and it has never in my adult life taken me longer than about a week to find work if I was genuinely trying to find it. Anyway, about July of last year, I was getting very down on myself for not finding work, and my lovely wife put her foot up my butt and made me return to college to occupy my time. She is a wise girl.
So anyway, I spent almost 11 months on unemployment last year. I did NOT have federal taxes withdrawn from my Unemployment benefits.
In June of last year, my wife was also laid off, due to company downsizing. She saw this as an opportunity to increase her college load from part time to full time. She, like myself, never had taxes withheld from her Unemployment checks. Now, onto my being conflicted.
The system is broken. At the end of the year, I owed no taxes. This, I can understand, as I basically made almost no money. But we received a tax refund of over $6000. Lord knows, I can use the $ as Unemployment is about to run out and that will leave me living off of student loans while paying a mortgage and supporting a family. It is a God-send. *BUT*, I am ashamed that I received a larger refund than I ever have before - by far, when I paid next to $0 into the system.
There is more. Since my wife is a "displaced worker" and a full time student, the government is basically throwing money at her. The amount of Pell Grants she receives continues to grow, almost by the month.
Meanwhile, check this out. One of my wife's friends has a husband about to ship out to Afganistan. His National Guard unit is so broke, that the new recruits have fired live ammunition in training ONE time! One time and off to war they go! The rest of the training, I assume, has been conducted with blank ammunition and what is known as a MILES system (lasers and vests that beep when you are "hit"). MILES training is effective; I did it many times when I was in the Army during Reagan's peace time. But it is no substitution for actually firing and learning your individual weapon on the rifle range.
I am conflicted. I fully understand the intention to get me "dependent" on government hand-outs. I am angry at myself for accepting them and being thankful for them.

Economist Richard Wolff explores the complex, worrisome economic relationship between China and the U.S. American consumerism, he says, funds China's ability to lend to the U.S. in what he calls a "replay in reverse" of the Marshall Plan.

Currently, I'm reading Bad Money, by Kevin Phillips, which my wife bought for me yesterday.
http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Money-Reckless-Politics-Capitalism/dp/0670019070
Only one chapter into it. Fascinating!
===
The REAL reason I am studying various lines is that I'm trying to make sense of what I see happening in the country and the world. I can't bring myself to truly accept any conventional wisdom it seems. I believe one of my responses to this week's class assignments illustrates the confusion. I brought up the point that as a general rule, I am almost always in favor of government returning the people's money to them (tax refunds, cuts, etc).
I wrote:
"...Oh, and as an afterthought. I understand that this may well result in inflation. But as I've said before (I think), inflation is at this point a foregone conclusion. I believe the only thing holding inflation in check currently is the unemployment. But if/when people get back to work, inflation will certainly kick in. You can't expect to print a gazillion dollars with nothing backing it and expect it will hold its purchasing power.
So again, with inflation being a given in my opinion, returning the people's money to them seems the best bet to me. Perhaps if this returned money was saved, rather than immediately spent, it would help fight inflation. But now we're back to prolonging the recession without the spending.
What a mess!"
The Professor's Reply:
What I really like about your path thus far is the fact that you seem to be embracing education regarding many economic lines of thought. Too many aspiring economists resign their studies to include only those ideals that happen to fit their pre-disposed notions of what is "right" or "wrong".
As you read more and more from those who preceded you within academia, you will find that nearly all of these experts present viable theories and practices that have, at times, proven effective - and ineffective - where solving economic problems are concerned.
We end the course in a few weeks, but never let that dissuade you from keeping in contact if you should have anything you would like to discuss or pose a question about.
Have a great weekend!
Professor C
(I purposely abbreviated his name. We do NOT refer to him as Professor C)

So yes, I will accept that as in the case of so many topics, that the truth lies in combining many answers.
Besides, it's said that whoever wins the wars gets to write the history books. I suppose they also get an upper hand when writing economic theory.

All I can say is "wow!"
Have you READ Article 1 section 7 of OUR Constitution, "All bills for raising revenue originate in the house of representatives"...and this is a revenue bill. It began in the Senate and it hires 16,000 new IRS agents to harass our citizens.

Well, here we are
We are now a socialist/marxist nation. Of course, we will never refer to ourselves as such; we will continue to call ourselves free. Do I recall that the Soviet citizenry thought they were free? I weep for this nation. I weep for the lost greatness that I grew up with. Comfortable that I lived in the greatest place in the history of the world. I weep for my children, and my grand child. I am an older man, who offers little to the future. My children and my grand child will live in a 3rd world, banana republic, created largely by my generation.
And just because nobody else is willing to say so, I find it ironic that it was the 1st black president who got us here. I am trying to remember an African nation that did not implode within about 10 years and am drawing a blank. How I wish the 1st black president had been a man of character, rather than a marxist radical.
So long USA. I admired you and will miss you.

We must put a stop to this outright thievery!
All I ask is that you consider the suggestion here.
The entire Congress of the United States is corrupt. And I mean both Houses and I mean both major parties. I realize that a few Members of each House are trustworthy,But, As a group they are absolutely the most corrupt bunch to ever disgrace our Nation.
We can do the same thing in 2014 and,By that time we will have put all new people in that body as well.
I am also suggesting term limits on the NEW BUNCH - 8 YEARS FOR REPRESENTATIVES AND 12 YEARS OF SENATORS. NO EXCEPTIONS. THE LONGER THEY STAY IN OFFICE THE MORE POWER THEY GET AND THEY LOVE IT AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET RE-ELECTED.

So is this really that far off? I mean really is it?
Operator: Thank you for calling Pizza Hut. May I have your national ID number?
Customer: Hi, I'd like to place an order.
Operator: I must have your NIDM first, sir.
Customer: My National ID Number, yeah, hold on, eh, it's, 3897950001-54-66689.
Operator: Thank you Mr. Phelps. I see your E-mail address is, phelps@home.net and that you live at, 8257 Private Drive. Your home phone number is, 505-7633, your office number over at Brave New World Insurance is, 254-7697 and your cell number is, 733-7433. Which number are you calling from sir?
Customer: Huh? I’m at home. Where’d you get all this information?
Operator: We’re wired into the HSS, sir.
Customer: The HSS, what is that?
Operator: We’re wired into the Homeland Security System, sir. It will add only 15 seconds to your ordering time.
Customer: (sighs) Oh well — I'd like to order a couple of your All-Meat Special pizzas.
Operator: I don't think that's a good idea, sir.
Customer: Whaddya mean?
Operator: Sir, your medical records and commode sensors indicate that you've got very high blood pressure and extremely high cholesterol. Your National Health Care provider won't allow such an unhealthy choice.
Customer: What?!?! What do you recommend, then?
Operator: You might try our low-fat Soybean Pizza. I'm sure you'll like it.
Customer: What makes you think I'd like something like that?
Operator: Well, you checked out 'Gourmet Soybean Recipes' from your local library last week, sir. That's why I made the suggestion.
Customer: All right, all right. Give me two family-sized ones, then.
Operator: That should be plenty for you, your wife and your four kids, and your 2 dogs can finish the crusts, sir. Your total is $49.99.
Customer: Lemme give you my credit card number.
Operator: I'm sorry sir, but I'm afraid you'll have to pay in cash. Your credit card balance is over its limit.
Customer: I'll run over to the ATM and get some cash before your driver gets here.
Operator: That may not work either, sir. Your checking account is also overdrawn.
Customer: Never mind! Just send the pizzas. I'll have the cash ready. How long will it take?
Operator: We're running a little behind, sir. It'll be about 45 minutes, sir. If you're in a hurry you might want to pick'em up while you're out getting the cash, but then, carrying pizzas on a motorcycle can be a little awkward.
Customer: Wait! How do you know I ride a scooter?
Operator: It says here you're in arrears on your car payments, so your car got repo'ed. But your Harley's paid for and you just filled the tank yesterday.
Customer: Well, I'll be a #%#^*^&$%^$@#!
Operator: I'd advise watching your language, sir. You've already got a July 4, 2006 conviction for cussing out a cop and another one I see here in September for contempt at your hearing for cussing at a judge. Oh yes, I see here that you just got out from a 90 day stay in the State Correctional Facility. Is this your first pizza since your return to society?
Customer: (speechless)
Operator: Will there be anything else, sir?
Customer: Yes, I have a coupon for a free 2 liter of Coke.
Operator: I'm sorry sir, but our ad's exclusionary clause prevents us from offering free soda to diabetics. The New Constitution prohibits this.
Thank you for calling Pizza Hut.

Attack of the killer Hot Dogs
Doctors Urging for a Safer, Choke-Free Hot Dog
When 4-year-old Eric Stavros Adler choked to death on a piece of hot dog, his anguished mother never dreamed that the popular kids’ food could be so dangerous.
Some food makers including Oscar Mayer have warning labels about choking, but not nearly enough, says Joan Stavros Adler, Eric’s mom.
The American Academy of Pediatrics agrees. The nation’s largest pediatricians group is calling for sweeping changes in the way food is designed and labeled to minimize children’s chances for choking.
Choking kills more than 100 U.S. children 14 years or younger each year and thousands more — 15,000 in 2001 — are treated in emergency rooms. Food, including candy and gum, is among the leading culprits, along with items like coins and balloons. Of the 141 choking deaths in kids in 2006, 61 were food-related.
The frankfurter aka the “hot dog” has been around since about 1480 AD the sausage in casings have been around since as early as 900 BC both similar in shape and have been eating and enjoyed billions upon billions of people countless times over the last 2500 years but now they need a warning label… Oh Lord give me strength!
I sorry this lady lost her child nothing could be worse than a parent losing a child, but to change the shape of design of a food that has been around 2500 is just ridiculous. How about you be the parent and teach your child to chew their food and if that’s to much work on you then slice the hot dog up and if that still to much burden on you to be a responsible parent then don’t give them the damn hot dogs in the first place – don’t punish an ancient food type for your short-coming as a overseer of your child’s well being.
You don’t change the shape of the wheel because people get run over. The reality is it is not societies or the government’s responsibility to be your child’s nanny and it is sad that 100 kids a year die from choking accidents. The reality is 1800’s child mortality was a 100 times or more higher than it is today and the further reality is you can not eliminate every danger for your children. But why is child mortality lower today? Simple science and medicine and the science says chew your damn food before swallowing and leave my hot dogs alone.
Let’s do the cold heartless task of risk management something industry and government does daily – nobody wants anyone to die choking, especially children and while the story states that 100 children a year die choking it doesn’t not say how many are the result of hot dogs. You make think it’s a little cold to think of it in terms of risk management, but at some point reality has to enter into it and for the record the leading caused of child mortality is auto accidents at 7,677 (2003) drowning 1,062 (2003) and sadly suicide at 1,737 (2003). The facts are every year American eat more then 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July and over 2 billion in the month of July alone. So one could conservatively estimate that Americans eat about 8-10 billion hot dogs a year and the American Academy of Pediatrics wants to change a entire industry? In other words you stand a far better chance of winning the lottery than choking on a hot dog. Now we’re talking hot dogs alone, not Little Smokies, Brats, Sausage links etc. So I fail to see that based on the volume of consumption verses the health risk an industry wide change is merited. It’s just not a viable option and as I’ve said I don’t want anyone to die choking on a hot dog especially children, but at some point personal responsibility kicks in and if a child is too young to exercise that responsibility then the parent needs to step up and be the parent.

Yes, Congress's inability to represent the people is a crisis that threatens our society. But Bayh's reaction to that challenge is not to stand up and fight, it's to wrinkle his noise and quit. Since he leaves no legacy of any kind from his 12 years in the Senate, and since he has been and always would have been one of its most ineffectual members, it's no surprise that when the going got tough, the senator chose to split.
Evan Bayh has no vision, he's no fighter, and he's no Democrat. He's a child of destiny. He touts bipartisanship because he's a Republican stuck with a Democratic family.
Democracy never has been a cherished institution in Indiana, which was openly controlled by the Ku Klux Klan in the early 20th century and spawned the John Birch Society in the 1950s. With one of the most restrictive ballot access laws in the nation, the state is one of only four in the nation where Ralph Nader was unable to get on the ballot for president. It is virtually impossible for anyone other than establishment Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians to provide electoral alternatives to Indiana voters at the state and national levels.
So, it again came as no surprise that Bayh waited to announce his retirement until it was too late for the electorate to determine his replacement. He announced his decision on the last day that candidates had to collect and submit signatures for ballot placement.
Only one candidate, Bloomington cafe owner Tamyra d'Ippolito, had initiated a petition drive to seek Bayh's seat. On Feb. 19, she announced she did not obtain the 5,000 signatures necessary but will challenge Indiana election laws in court. If d'Ippolito's legal challenge fails, the Indiana Democratic Party will select the candidate for Bayh's seat.
One of two things happened here. Either Bayh did just reach a decision, in which case he's an impulsive quitter. Or, he knew all along and deliberately chose to circumvent state Democratic Primary voters.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) believes it was the latter. "It raises serious questions whether he purposefully timed his announcement to deny Hoosiers a voice in the political process," NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh said in a Feb. 17 news release.
Only Evan Bayh could make the National Republican Senatorial Committee seem noble. What an embarrassment.

The world economy is a house of cards!
I am not a rich man by today's standards, and even poorer by yesterday's standards. Every time I come up with an extra $20, I buy a 1 oz silver coin. It won't be enough, but perhaps it will soften the blow.

I just found this.
As posted in comments on Greta's article referencing the MOVEON ad about
Sarah Palin.
The last 45 of my 66 years I've spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska
. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well
until this last year. Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin
controversy gets it. It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, it's about
doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I'm about
to mention here.
1. Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as
soon as Palin took the Governor's office away from a fellow Republican and
tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican's "Corrupt Bastards
Club" (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State
housing and wearing orange jump suits The Democrats reacted by skipping
around the yard, throwing confetti and singing, "la la la la" (well, you
know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done
anything similar.
2. Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect
the huge, giant oil companies here. So she constructed and enacted a new
system of splitting the oil profits called "ACES." Exxon (the biggest
corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them, "don't let the door
hit you in the stern on your way out." They stayed, and Alaska residents
went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course, the other
huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the
name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.
3. The other thing she did when she walked into the governor's office is she
got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as
"pork." She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the
"when-hell-freezes-over" stack. She let locals know that if we need
something built, we'll pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use
the money she got from selling the previous governor's jet because it was
extravagant.
Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor's cook
(remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State
vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and
dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning - I imagine -
that she's packing heat herself). I'm still waiting to hear the names of
those other governors.
4. Now, even with her much-ridiculed "gosh and golly" mannerism, she also
managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas
pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the
history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If
that doesn't impress you, then you're trying too hard to be unimpressed
while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies
with her other hand.
5. For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place
called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldn't
start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No
governor for 30 years could make them get started. Then, she told them she
was revoking their lease and kicking them out.. They protested and
threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the
way to the court house. Alaska won again.
6. President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for
electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan
for Alaska to be at 50% renewables by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can
give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona
Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But that's just a
cover-up. I'm still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other
governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I won't
be holding my breath.
By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and
go to work, but the haters wouldn't let her. Now these adolescent screechers
are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when
you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin
around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.
You have just read the truth about Sarah Palin that sends the media, along
with the democrat party, into a wild uncontrolled frenzy to discredit her. I
guess they are only interested in skirt chasers, dishonesty, immoral people,
liars, womanizers, murderers, and bitter ex-presidents' wives.

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created
such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First

expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush
one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own
pocket.

CONGRESS REFUSES TO BRING HOME MILLIONS OF JOBSPART 1 of 2
By: DevvyFebruary 15, 2010© 2010 - NewsWithViews.com
"He, therefore, who is now against domestic manufacture, must be for reducing us either to dependence on that foreign nation, or to be clothed in skins, and to live like wild beasts in dens and caverns. I am not one of these; experience has taught me that manufactures are now as necessary to our independence as to our comfort; and if those who quote me as of a different opinion, will keep pace with me in purchasing nothing foreign where an equivalent of domestic fabric can be obtained, without regard to difference of price, it will not be our fault if we do not soon have a supply at home equal to our demand, and wrest that weapon of distress from the hand which has wielded it." The Letters of Thomas Jefferson: 1743-1826. To Benjamin Austin Monticello, January 9, 1816
I was in Denver recently. As I refuse to fly commercial, I drive. From Big Spring, Texas, where I live, to Denver and back, the number one subject of discussion is jobs. People are very afraid; you can see it in their eyes and hear it in their voice as they say, "I thought we were in a recovery."
It is not the job of the federal government to create jobs, yet the thieves in the Outlaw Congress right now are bickering over another con job called a "jobs bill". This is just more of the same: increasing the debt, weaning more Americans into government jobs and possibly another extension of unemployment benefits:
"Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) worked for weeks with Reid's blessing and frequent involvement to craft an $85 billion jobs bill, a measure that seemed destined to break the partisan logjam that has ground the Senate to a halt.
"[Reid's] trying to keep it simple," Harkin said emerging from the meeting, "but what I think ought to be in the package is unemployment insurance for one year."
The Marxist usurper in the White House just (without any legal authority) signed another law raising the public debt limit from $12.4 TRILLION "dollars" to $14.3 TRILLION "dollars".
Heck, what's another $85 BILLION tacked on for you, me, our children and grand children to labor like oxen under the yoke to do nothing more than pay the interest on that debt for our entire lifetimes? The people's purse is overdrawn, well, go look at the debt clock; it runs faster than I can type. But, the Outlaw Congress wants to spend another $85 BILLION "dollars" that will have to be borrowed? Create jobs out of borrowed debt? Does anyone see the insanity of this? Remember: you are going to work today to help pay $800 MILLION dollars a week just on the interest to commie China for "our" debt.
It is impossible to pay off this Congressionally created debt, signed off by every president for the past 100 years:
"A lot of people are very upset about the rapidly increasing U.S. national debt these days and they are demanding a solution. What they don't realize is that there simply is not a solution under the current U.S. financial system. It is now mathematically impossible for the U.S. government to pay off the U.S. national debt. You see, the truth is that the U.S. government now owes more dollars than actually exist. If the U.S. government went out today and took every single penny from every single American bank, business and taxpayer, they still would not be able to pay off the national debt. And if they did that, obviously American society would stop functioning because nobody would have any money to buy or sell anything.
"And the U.S. government would still be massively in debt."
Unemployment checks are replacing paychecks. This has done nothing to restore our most important and good paying job sectors. This has done nothing and will do nothing towards putting Americans back to work. More Band Aids to cover the massive bleeding. Employers will not hire unless there is an increase in their business and 17 MILLION unemployed Americans are only buying diapers, food, gas and other essentials. Too many are living in tents or their cars. Then, there are consumers like me who will NOT buy Made in commie China or India. I go without if I can't find what I want, so retailers are not getting our money. Employers also cannot hire when being hit by massive unemployment taxes.

Folks have been sending me their candidate of choice for Congress in the coming November elections. The only problem is -- why are none of the candidates (that I've seen so far) addressing real solutions instead of just more pap and warmed over political rhetoric? John Dennis is running against Marxist Nancy Pelosi. He is a great constitutional candidate, except I don't see him stepping forward with the taking the first step in bringing home MILLIONS of good paying jobs: "As a country we should welcome trade with all countries, resolve our outstanding disputes with countries considered unfriendly and have diplomatic relations with all."
Well said, but, like so many of the other candidates for Congress, where is your pledge to introduce and fight to get passed, bills that will get America out of three unconstitutional treaties: NAFTA, CAFTA and GATT?
Full page ad, NY Times, April 15, 1994:1944. Bretton Woods: The IMF and the World Bank. 1945. San Francisco: The United Nations. 1994, Marrakech: The World Trade Organization. History knows where its going. The final act of the Uruguay Round....to the WTO, the third pillar of the New World Order, along with the UN and the IMF." Henry Kissinger, a tried and true traitor and Soviet agent recently said when asked the most important role Marxist Obama can play regarding the middle East: "Obama can give a new impetus to American foreign policy....his task is to step forward to create a new world."
People like me fought tooth and nail against all of those treaties. Job killers. The destruction of our most important job sectors, agriculture, manufacturing and industrial have been destroyed by those treaties. The Republicans had 12 years to get us out of those treaties and out of the communist controlled UN. Instead, they did NOTHING while this nation hemorrhaged jobs by the millions.
Voters, tired, hungry and jobless or having lost their good factory job now working for minimum wage, continue to vote back into the office the same turncoats who voted for these job killing treaties: John Boehner, Dana Rohrabacher, Newt globalist Gingrich, Tom Delay, Dennis Hastert, Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and so many more; the list is here. On the senate side: Grassley sold us out as well as McCain, Lott, Shelby, Kay Bailey Hutchinson and more; the list is here. Some of the crooks are gone (Hastert, Gingrich, Lott), but I can tell you that the aforementioned (with possibly the exception of Pelosi and Hutchinson who is running for Governor in Texas) will all be rewarded with reelection for their treachery in handing over our jobs to communist countries. Pro-communism is anti-American.
The Pelosi/Reid team has had control of Congress since January 2007. They have done NOTHING to get us out of those destructive trade treaties. Instead, they continue to spend more debt, not money, and creating more government jobs from borrowed, worthless paper that produce nothing but higher taxes to pay for those jobs. What they have done is simply light a bigger bonfire for what's coming very soon and it can't be stopped. The same policies pursued by FDR are being replayed today and the results will be the same - financial Armageddon - just on a grander scale. As Bob Chapman so correctly states in his recent International Forecaster:
Revising The Economic Problems Wont Make Them Go Away. "The inflationary depression still dominates and probably will continue to do so. In time the stimulus will fail to work and the world will slip into total insolvency and deflationary depression. The old M3 is about 3%, but we still have $23.7 trillion floating around. Not only is the US bankrupt, but also so is the rest of the world. It is now only a question of when the dominos will fall.
It looks like the first wave in the collapse of the bear market rally is underway. Bonds will follow with higher interest rates and eventually commodities will be hit. Only gold and silver will survive, as the bankers and Wall Street complete their destruction of the world economy." For part two click below.
