A true democracy can not stand. Eventually the populace will discover that it can vote itself the largess of the public treasury. I can't remember which 18th century British dude said this, but it is true without a doubt.
We are now a socialist/marxist nation. Of course, we will never refer to ourselves as such; we will continue to call ourselves free. Do I recall that the Soviet citizenry thought they were free? I weep for this nation. I weep for the lost greatness that I grew up with. Comfortable that I lived in the greatest place in the history of the world. I weep for my children, and my grand child. I am an older man, who offers little to the future. My children and my grand child will live in a 3rd world, banana republic, created largely by my generation.
And just because nobody else is willing to say so, I find it ironic that it was the 1st black president who got us here. I am trying to remember an African nation that did not implode within about 10 years and am drawing a blank. How I wish the 1st black president had been a man of character, rather than a marxist radical.
So long USA. I admired you and will miss you.
Truly a dark day for America, and an even darker one for next generations. One can only hope the Republicans can figure out some means to repeal this horrible legislation, or, at the minimum, slow it down. But I'm not hopeful.
ReplyDeleteWe have become a nation demanding instant gratification, forgetting the very restraint that made us great and prosperous. That said, no one should be surprised. Obama very clearly stated what he would do, and now he's done it.
Being a republic was nice while it lasted.
A day that shall live in infamy, revisited. We are at the cusp of a restructuring of our entire social/legal system. Will it go quietly into oblivion? Will we degrade into anarchy? shall we have a civil war? The one thing that can be said with certainty is that change is inevitable.
ReplyDeleteIf we believe that what we have had is worth protecting, we have difficult decisions to make, sacrifices to do, and the need of prayer and divine intervention.
In the words of Charlton Heston, in the movie 'Planet of the Apes'; "So you finally did it... Damn you all to hell!"
